Publix Recognized As One of IDG's Computerworld Best Places to Work in Information Technology
LAKELAND, Fla., June 18, 2012—For the eighth consecutive year, Publix has been honored as one of IDG’s Computerworld top workplaces for information technology (IT) professionals. This honor is part of the weekly IT publication’s 19th annual Best Places to Work in IT survey, published in the June 18 issue of Computerworld and online at www.computerworld.com.
“Our I/S associates’ contributions and commitment to premier service make our department and Publix a great place to work,” said Publix Chief Information Officer & Senior Vice President Laurie Douglas. “Our associates believe so strongly in our company and mission. I’m proud they continue to be recognized for the important work they do for our company.”
Publix ranks No. 88 on this year’s list and remains the only supermarket chain to be recognized. In addition, Publix ranks No. 49 for companies with 10,000 or more associates.
The Best Places to Work in IT list is an annual ranking of the top 100 work environments for technology professionals compiled by IDG’s Computerworld. The lists are compiled based on a comprehensive questionnaire regarding company offerings in categories such as diversity, career development, training and retention. In addition, Computerworld conducts extensive surveys of IT workers, and their responses factor heavily in determining the rankings.
“The organizations on this year's Best Places to Work in IT list consistently seek out and hire the most talented IT people, offer them competitive pay and provide great benefits,” said Scot Finnie, editor in chief of Computerworld. “Many of these organizations have spent years building top-notch IT workplaces, and we applaud the amazing work they've done to sustain dynamic environments where IT professionals can work with the latest technologies and play a key role in business-critical projects.”
